Come and enjoy a drop-in family workshop making up simple poems and stories inspired by Roman objects provided by the Priest’s House Museum & Garden. There will also be the opportunity to get hands on with paper making using a papyrus technique of weaving and pressing plant materials.
Over the last few days, 150 hanging baskets and 40 window boxes full of flowers have been put up around Wimborne ahead of this year’s competitions. The sun shone the whole weekend as a total of 5,253 rowers from 153 clubs and schools took part in the National Schools Regatta at Dorney Lake from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 May. Canford’s 12 crews made up of 58 pupils had a hugely successful weekend, both in terms of the races they won and the experience they gained at this national event.
Cheryl Broad, a Wimborne Barber, has offered to have all her hair shaved off at an event to be held in Wimborne Square on Saturday 13 August. It is proposed to make this part of a fun event, which will take place throughout the day raising funds for Poole Hospital Cancer Treatment Trust, more commonly known as the Poole Body Scanner Appeal.
Ben Vessey, Headmaster of Canford School in Wimborne, Dorset, attended a unique Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) Gold Award Presentation at Buckingham Palace on 16 May.
