Wimborne Minster marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe with a full day of events.

The Mayor of Ferndown, Cllr Terry Cordery, joined residents and guests at Kings Park Care Home for VE Day commemorations.

Communities across the country are commemorating the 80th anniversary of the ending of the Second World War in Europe today.

A trip through the New Forest with herds of ponies and foals was the magnificent journey that led to BBC Gardeners’ World Spring Fair at Beaulieu.

Ahead of VE Day, Lighthouse is staging the ‘Poole At Dunkirk 1940’ exhibition, curated by Poole Maritime Trust until Tuesday 27 May.

Visitors are welcome to the Lyme Regis Boat Building Academy Open Day this Saturday to see what the students are working on.

The Dolphin Centre, Lighthouse Poole and the RNLI Old Lifeboat Museum are all staging exhibitions to mark the anniversaries.

Across the conurbation, a variety of events are running from Saturday 3 May until Sunday 11 May to celebrate Victory in Europe (VE) Day.

The British stand-up comic and entertainer will be performing at The Barn in Ringwood on Saturday 3 May.

The event will take place over Julian’s Bridge from Friday 30 May to Sunday 1 June and this year has longer hours and reduced ticket prices.
